The unmarked grave site of Oakland Police Officer Richard B. Richardson, the first officer killed in the line of duty in Alameda County (10/23/1867)

It all started when...

...we discovered while doing research that the grave site of the first peace officer killed in the line of duty in Alameda County, California, Oakland Police Officer Richard B. Richardson (killed in 1867), did not have a grave marker (pictured on this page). Ongoing research revealed nine more unmarked grave sites. These Heroes deserve the proper recognition for their ultimate sacrifice. Thanks to generous donations, this has become a reality. Click here for more information.
